Physician Spotlight on Dr. Christopher Johnson

How did you get interested in sports medicine?

As a former athlete, I understand firsthand how devastating an injury can be. My passion for sports medicine stems from its ability to restore quality of life, helping individuals return to what they love—whether that means competing at a high level or simply enjoying a hike. It’s incredibly rewarding to help people get back to the activities that matter most to them.

What is your practice philosophy?

One of my mentors taught me the simple idea that if you do good work for good people, good things will follow. This philosophy has stuck with me and influences how I approach my practice and patient care. By focusing on doing quality work and building positive relationships, I’ve found that success and positive outcomes tend to naturally come as a result. It’s a straightforward principle that keeps me grounded and focused on providing the best care possible.

What trends are you seeing in surgery? What are you currently most excited about?

I have a strong interest in the role of emerging biologic therapies in enhancing the healing process, including advancements in biologic injections, rotator cuff repair augmentations, and cartilage implantation. Early outcomes are promising, and new research is being published regularly, offering fresh insights into these innovative treatments

How do you stay current in your field?

I stay up-to-date by regularly reading orthopedic literature and attending professional conferences. Recently, I had the opportunity to present my research at conferences in West Point and Boston, where a variety of exciting studies in emerging fields were discussed.

What are your clinical interests?

I am interested in cartilage restoration, meniscal transplantation, and shoulder arthroplasty.
