RHEUMATOLOGY
Some chronic, severe, and often disabling pain may be caused by one of several types of arthritis or connective tissue disease, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, scleroderma, gout, and Sjogren's syndrome. A rheumatologist is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat these and other musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.
At Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County, our rheumatologist, Dr Wysell, works closely with our patients and our medical team to reach a diagnosis and design the best treatment plan for each individual. Rheumatic diseases are complex and chronic and can change over time. That is why continued follow-up care is important. Our rheumatologist will monitor treatment closely and modify the plan if necessary to make sure you're getting the most out of your treatment. Since many orthopedic patients also suffer with rheumatic diseases, having a board certified rheumatologist in our practice just makes sense. We know every patient deserves the most thorough and individual care.
