Radiology

At Orthopedic Associates our radiology department was designed for advanced diagnostic capabilities utilizing state of the art radiologic technology. Whether you need an X-Ray, MRI, bone density test or EMG/NCV, our staff of professional radiologic technologists are here to assist you. They will take the time to explain the procedure to you and assure that you are comfortable throughout the exam.

X-RAY
Why wait for X-Ray or travel to an outside facility fighting traffic along the way?  You will not only waste your time but delay your diagnosis.  Every Orthopedic Associates office has state-of-the-art
x-ray facilites on-site so that you get the test you need, when you need it.
AS a result to our commitment to providing the best in orthopedic health care, Orthopedic Associates will be integrating digital x-ray to our offices enhancing our patient’s office visits. Images are available immediately for doctors’ use. The images are stored in your electronic medical chart and if you should need them they can be made available on film or CD. Digital x-ray will be available in the spring of 2008.

MRI

When ordinary x-rays aren’t enough for diagnosis, your doctor may order an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) exam.   MRI has proven very valuable for diagnosing many joint and musculosketal disorders, enabling doctors to see some body structures that may not be seen by other methods. We can conveniently perform MRI exams of the extremities (limbs and joints) and shoulders right in our Poughkeepsie and Kingston offices. For a full service MRI, our staff can schedule a appointment for you in our Fishkill office.

Bone Densitometry (Osteoporosis Screening)

These days more and more people are becoming aware of the seriousness of bone mineral loss. Bone mineral loss (low bone density, or osteoporosis) can occur with age, disease, heredity, excessive use of alcohol or caffeine, dietary deficiencies, or from side effects of some medications. There are no warning signs of osteoporosis, but with today’s advanced technology, we can discover evidence of bone loss long before a fracture occurs. Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County offers in-house osteoporosis screening in our Poughkeepsie office. We use a method called DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) scanning. It is one of the most accurate methods available for detecting osteoporosis.
