Douglas Abplanalp, PT
Douglas E. Abplanalp is originally from Liberty, NY in the heart of the Catskill region. He is a licensed physical therapist and a certified athletic trainer. He attended Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont, where he received his Bachelor’s in Sports Medicine in 2001. He attended the prestigious Nova Southeastern University College of Allied Health and Nursing where he earned his Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2004. Prior to joining Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County in 2005, he worked with Norwich University and Nova Southeastern University athletes. He also completed a field rotation with the Miami Dolphins professional football team, where he had the opportunity to evaluate and treat a wide range of sports related injuries.
Douglas has extensive experience in all areas of orthopedic physical therapy and is particularly interested in sports and spinal orthopedic rehabilitation. He has completed specialized training in custom foot orthotic fabrication and over 150 hours of continuing professional education in the areas of spinal rehabilitation and post-operative physical therapy for the knee and shoulder. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy.
Outside of work, Douglas enjoys hunting, fishing, downhill skiing, being in the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
